Skytrain
The skytrain, or BTS as it is better known was completed in 1999 and has proved to be a God send. It isn't the first attempt at a BTS system. There was an original project called Hopewell but the economic crash at that time meant that the original project was called off even though hundreds of stone pillars had already been put up. Those pillars are still in place and are doing nothing. Whether anyone will have the sense to use them or pull them down remains to be seen.
The BTS is split into two lines. The two lines meet only once at Siam and so everyone wishing to change lines has to do so at the same place and it gets very busy and chaotic.
One line runs from the bottom of Sukhumvit, with the first station being On Nut, and runs all the way to Mo Chit ( Chatuchak market ) .
The other line, which is a much shorter line, runs from Saphan Taksin ( river cruises, ferry boats to hotels ) to The National Stadium ( MBK )
