Thai style houses generally come in two types, the detached house with a garden of varying size or the terraced town house, usually occupying four floors
Under current legislation foreigners (that is, non-Thai citizens) cannot own houses in their own names since land cannot be owned by non-Thais. However, there are legally approved ways round this legislation whereby a foreigner can, in effect, own his own house with the co-operation of Thai citizens. Bangkok Lettings can provide full details.
Houses are very popular with families moving to Thailand and many are available at all prices and in all areas, although they tend to be in the suburbs or near internationally recognised schools.
